To understand the wisdom of God, we have to think pragmatically and long-term. Now the true long-term is eternity, and if we are to "have value" in the eternal realm we must be holy. In this sense the wisest thing we can do is to become like Jesus in all we do, for that will bring the greatest reward for the greatest length of time.
