But as for me, my feet almost slipped when I saw..... The prosperity of the wicked - Psalm73 If i should say that I have never asked the question Asaph asked in Psalm73, I would be a liar and a hypocrite. This may not go down well with certain ‘it is demonic to have negative thoughts nor question God Christian denominations - all should be positives’. But for me my idea of Christianity is to be realistic this does not rule out my faith in God who makes to this that be not to manifest - Hebrews11:3. I recall with nostalgia the day I rejected a job offer because one of the condition of service is against my faith as a Christian. Unknown to me, I had only #20 left in my pocket and had to trek a long distance asking myself so many questions along the way, some of which are: is there any point in serving God? Is there any difference between those who seek their own comfort and those who seek the Lord? Of what use is righteousness and holiness under this hot sun? What use is a BSc certificate with an almost torn #20 note? Do not the righteous and the wicked meet the same frustrations and calamities - just that the wicked have grabbed more wealth for themselves along the way and enjoy a better life? Does God still answer prayers? The question of reward can be a very real question for many Christians, which cannot be left in doubt or else it corrodes the soul of the believer and leave the person angry at a loving God. God is good and rewards those who diligently seek Him -Hebrews11:6. Both here and in eternity - Matthew 19:29. This is the truth we must believe knowing fully well that His ways are not our ways - Isaiah55:8 and that to Him a day is like a thousand years and a thousand years like a day - 2Peter3:8. I will not be negligent to attest to the fact that not all God’s faithful servants are rewarded fully in this life. Many missionaries do stay poor all their lives. Christianity is not a path to riches yet it is not a part to poverty. But it is a path to a meaningful and satisfying life which can be enjoyed when we settle it in our heart that money alone is not the blessing that God gives to His children; good health is one of them, academic excellence not tainted with exam malpractice is another, peace, love, godly family, sexual purity, obedient children, holiness, righteousness, wisdom, e.t.c are all part of it - yet no man can be given all at the same time cos we are not created to be self sufficient but to be dependent on a self sufficient God. Now, how did I overcome that period of murmuring the answer is simple but sometimes hard to practice ‘Count your blessings’. The moment I forced myself to do that, joy gradually prevailed over sorrow, my heart softened, my tear-filled eyes glowed and I began praising the Lord for finding me worthy to say yes to Him and no to sin with all its material benefit, knowing fully well that soonest for the delay the Lord will restore double unto me - Zechariah9:12 cos eyes have not seen, ears have not heard, neither has it come into the heart of men the thing which God have prepared for those who diligently seek Him.
